The StrangerThe heavens sprawled dormant and gray above the city skyline. The rain fell that day in a dreary haze. It fell to the foul streets of humanities haunting place. The city was full of tall buildings, ancient mansions and public offices carved from dark stone. From a distance, the city seemed to rise from the ground, devoid of any color or light. It would rise like a glut of spears to stab violently into the encroaching sky. “You sure this is the right city stranger?” the driver asked, flashing the passenger in the back seat a glance in the rearview mirror.
